Custom Canvas Keys
We can make canvas keys in any thickness, shape or size to fit any stretcher you are working with. We use clear ash hardwood or birch plywood for making most of our regular and custom keys and other wood types are available on special request.

** NOTE: It is important that the sloping angle of the key should match the sloping angle of the key slot in the stretcher bar. An easy way to determine the angle of the slot in your stretcher is to place a thin ruler in the slot up against the sloped edge and to draw on a piece of paper the angle that the ruler makes with the stretcher bar (see the photos below for a demonstration). You can measure this angle or simply scan it and send it to us and we’ll do the measuring for you.
